Kenneth A. Martin, M.D.

Kenneth A. Martin, MD, is a highly trained, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Little Rock, Arkansas, location of Martin Orthopedics.

He was a track and football athlete in high school and a scholarship player for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team. As a former track athlete and football player, Dr. Martin relates to his patients who play sports as he treats them for sports-related injuries to reduce pain and speed healing.

Dr. Martin completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and his medical degree at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, where he finished an internship in general surgery and a residency program in orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Martin is fellowship-trained in adult reconstructive surgery and total joint replacement. He worked in private practice in Pine Bluff before moving his practice to Little Rock in 1990. He has been on the clinical faculty of the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock since 1984.

He maintains his advanced credentials with continuing education. Dr. Martin is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery. He was selected as one of the Best Doctors in America by Best Doctors, Inc., and was highlighted as one of the Best Doctors in Arkansas by AY Magazine.

Joel N. Smith, M.D.

Joel N. Smith, MD, is an expert board-certified orthopedic surgeon at Martin Orthopedics in Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Cabot, Arkansas. He is a native Northwest Arkansas resident, specializing in orthopedic surgery, particularly in sports medicine.

Dr. Smith received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center in Oklahoma City. During his chief year in residency, he was awarded Outstanding Specialty Resident of the Year by the OU Trauma Center. Dr. Smith continued his training with a sports medicine fellowship at Tahoe Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, where he worked with team physicians for the USA Alpine Ski team and other athletes during training events.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and maintains his advanced credentials with continuing education. Dr. Smith enjoys improving the quality of life of each of his patients by utilizing non-surgical and surgical approaches to help them exceed their health and fitness goals.

Dr. Smith has expertise in arthroscopic surgery for the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee, and ankle, including total and partial replacement of the knee and shoulder, as well as reverse total shoulder replacement. He was acknowledged by AY Magazine as one of Central Arkansas’ Best of the Best Orthopedic Surgeons.

In his free time, Dr. Smith enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three children. He is an avid golfer and loves baseball, basketball, and football.

Clayton H. Riley, M.D.

Clayton H. Riley, MD, is an experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeon at the Little Rock, Arkansas, location of Martin Orthopedics. He is a native of Little Rock and joined the practice in 2012. Dr. Riley specializes in arthroscopic techniques, joint replacements, and fracture treatments.

He graduated with honors from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro with a degree in biology and earned his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Dr. Riley completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. He went on to complete a shoulder and elbow fellowship at the prestigious Foundation for Orthopaedic, Athletic, and Reconstructive Research at Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston.

He has a special interest in shoulder and upper extremity repair and rehabilitation. Dr. Riley is active in research and authored numerous orthopedic book chapters and scientific papers on clinical research. He stays current in all new surgical techniques.

His research has been nominated twice for the Neer Award — the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons’ highest honor. Dr. Riley is also on the reviewer panel for a leading orthopedic journal.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and his dog. Dr. Riley is an active, outdoors person and loves all types of sports.

Samuel Baxter, M.D.

Samuel R. Baxter, MD, is an exceptional, fellowship-trained adult reconstructive orthopedic surgeon at Martin Orthopedic in North Little Rock, and Little Rock, Arkansas. He brings a variety of orthopedic training and expertise to the clinic and treats people of all ages.

Dr. Baxter earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. He went on to complete his medical degree at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

Dr. Baxter went on to complete an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and an adult reconstruction fellowship at the University of California, Davis. He has published research in prestigious medical journals and presented at various medical conferences nationwide.

In his free time, Dr. Baxter enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs, playing drums and bass guitar with friends, rebuilding a six-string guitar, watching college sports, working on projects around the house, and spending time with his family at the lake.

He looks forward to helping his patients achieve a better quality of life and welcomes them to Martin Orthopedics.

Christopher Davis, PA-C

Christopher Davis, PA-C, is a highly trained board-certified physician assistant at Martin Orthopedics in Little Rock, Arkansas. He has been on staff with Martin Orthopedics since 2012 and specializes in treating a variety of knee and other sports-related injuries.

Christopher attended the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and graduated with dual majors in chemistry and mathematics. After obtaining his undergraduate degree, he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, where he earned his Master of Divinity.

After completing 10 years of ministry in Virginia and Arkansas, Christopher graduated from Harding University’s Physician Assistant (PA) program in Searcy, Arkansas, with a Master of Science in PA studies.

After graduation, he began working with the orthopedic team at Martin Orthopedics. Christopher is very active with physician assistants in the state of Arkansas. He maintains his PA credentials with continuing education and currently serves as President of Arkansas Academy of Physician Assistants.

Christopher also serves on the PA subcommittee of the Arkansas State Medical Board. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, as well as the Journal of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Christopher has been married to his wife, Allie, since 2001, and they have two daughters and three sons. In his free time, he enjoys coaching sports and being an active member of Immanuel Baptist Church.

Blake Towell, APRN

Blake Towell, FNP, is a skilled family nurse practitioner at Martin Orthopedics in North Little Rock, Arkansas. He has over seven years of experience working in primary care nursing in inpatient settings. He boasts a strong reputation for achieving high levels of patient satisfaction in all phases of care.

Blake earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas, and his Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. He went on to complete a master’s degree as a family nurse practitioner at Chamberlain College of Nursing.

Blake maintains his advanced nursing credentials with continuing education. He is board-certified as a family nurse practitioner and has completed advanced training in all areas of orthopedic care. Blake enjoys helping people achieve improved musculoskeletal function with less ongoing pain.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family. Blake warmly welcomes everyone to Martin Orthopedics and looks forward to providing exceptional nursing care for people of all ages.

Susan Martin

CFO

Susan joined Dr. Martin as his practice administrator in 1985 after working in banking and law practice for ten years. Her primary focus at this point is on business operations and finance.

An Arkansas native, Susan grew up in Pine Bluff and earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville and a law degree from UALR.

When not at the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband, their four children and spouses, and their six grandchildren.
